Your bag should contain water/glasses/jacket/gloves/snacks plus camera.
Everything else will be in your bag that the porter team will carry about you. You won’t see your bag because the porters are much faster than you and they’ll get to the place of your stay much before you
When packing the bag you must know that the weight of the bag must not exceed 15 kilos, according to the regulations or the team will not carry it.
All your equipment will be in it other than what was mentioned earlier in the item (backpack) remember that you should not carry a heavyweight on your back so you don’t get tired!
Just get what’s necessary. You don’t need much equipment. Just follow the list of equipment that was written to you and you’ll be fine
So you don’t spend much time every morning packing the bag, you can store your equipment with those little facts (airless bags) so you can see what’s inside and you don’t need to open it every time. This will save you effort every morning
You will need to put the sleeping bag in the tent when you stay overnight every day
It’s good to have a long ankle boot against water and high quality because you’ll wear it every day! Make sure the shoe size is slightly larger than usual size because you will have to wear more than one sock some days.
Remember to wear them days before the date of travel until they are used to the foot, especially when they are new
Remember that the space between fingers is what keeps your hand warm! Take a slightly larger size than usual
When gloves are highly fingertip, you won’t feel warm
Of course it should be made of wool and not cotton! They call it 3 seasons, similar to those we wear when skiing
Since the trip will be exceptional and great your camera will accompany you throughout the trip, we recommend not to bring SLR as it will be heavy and large, bring what you can easily carry. Don’t forget to bring extra batteries and put them in socks so they don’t run out of power inside
You also know that getting a hygiene shower is not possible in Kilimanjaro so it’s time to bring wet wipes! 🙂 For cleaning inside the tent, please make sure you bring enough underwear as laundry will also not be available on the mountain.
The best thing to bring with you is Dettol wipes or baby wipes. Dettol will be your best new friends on the mountain! Just clear yourself in your tent to renew your activity. Please also make sure to bring your toilet paper.
Make sure to cut your nails well so you don’t experience pain during the long walk
Some people get it from long walking hours. The last thing you want on this trip is a bubble that can make your life miserable when you’re there. The best trick we find is “preventive behavior.” This means that you envelop your sensitive points, such as heels, designated toes, etc., such as gauze and medical white tape once the journey begins. This will protect those areas from additional friction and get you rid of pimples.
Sleepwear and shoes
Once you arrive in the camp, you will want to take off the walking shoes and wear something comfortable. We suggest bringing something easy to wear and take off. In case I have to go to the bathroom at night, the last thing you want to do is fumble in the dark and tie the shoe!. You may also want to bring comfortable and warm sleepwear
The best snacks you can bring are dates and nuts, will provide you with energy plus their weights are light
