Since the end of 2022, Pangaea Adventures has been hosting student groups from some of the world’s most prestigious universities, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard Business School, and London Business School. These trips were far more than just sightseeing tours; they were immersive experiences that allowed students to explore Saudi Arabia with fresh eyes and gain firsthand insight into its rich culture and deep-rooted history.
Journeys that Blend Culture and Adventure
Each group consisted of 50 to 120 students from various parts of the world, making this experience a unique opportunity for them to engage with Saudi Arabia for the first time. Remarkably, 99% of the participants had never visited the Kingdom before.
Our Journey Covered Three Key Cities:
- Riyadh – The vibrant capital, where students explored historical landmarks, traditional markets, and the Kingdom’s deep cultural heritage.
- AlUla – The hidden gem of northwest Saudi Arabia, where they marveled at stunning natural landscapes, visited archaeological wonders like Madain Salih, and discovered the breathtaking sandstone formations
- Jeddah – The gateway to the Red Sea, where students experienced the historic Al-Balad district, learned about the rich Hejazi heritage, and enjoyed thrilling marine adventures in the Red Sea.
Official Recognition Reflecting the Importance of the Program
These expeditions garnered attention from the Saudi Tourism Authority, highlighting the significance of such initiatives in showcasing Saudi Arabia to the world. The participation of Fahd Hamidaddin, CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority, who personally met with students during one of the trips, underscored this importance. This special encounter provided students with a deeper understanding of Saudi Vision 2030 and the country’s future aspirations, leaving a strong and positive impression of the Kingdom as a global cultural and tourism destination.
Impact on the Students
These trips were not just traditional visits; they were transformative cultural and educational experiences that left a lasting impact on the students. They witnessed firsthand the rapid development of Saudi Arabia, harmoniously coexisting with its rich traditions and heritage, offering them a well-rounded perspective on the modern Kingdom and its vast potential as a global hub for culture, tourism, and innovation.
Beyond the sites they explored, the biggest highlight of the experience was the interaction with young Saudi guides—both men and women—who played a crucial role in making the journey truly special. The direct engagement between students from diverse backgrounds and Saudi youth showcased a dynamic, ambitious, and hospitable generation, breaking stereotypes and deepening their understanding of the country. These personal connections enriched the experience, making it more authentic and memorable.
It was also an incredible experience for us at Pangaea to accompany these ambitious young minds and introduce them to a Kingdom rich in history, diverse in nature, and full of future opportunities.
We look forward to hosting more of these journeys, continuing to offer international university students an authentic and exceptional Saudi experience, and playing a part in positioning Saudi Arabia as a premier global tourism destination.
