The Antarctic Peninsula is a finger of land that stretches northwards from
western Antarctica. The Peninsula is the closest point of connection between the
Antarctic mainland and the rest of the world, separated by a mere 1000
kilometers of ocean known as the Drake Passage. This rugged, icy region is one
of the warmest and most biologically diverse parts of Antarctica. You’ll come for
the bustling penguin colonies, massive whales, and glorious icebergs, but you’ll
leave remembering so much more, as this ever-changing environment offers up
unexpected discoveries on a daily and sometimes hourly basis

Antarctica is located at the southernmost point of the Earth and holds the titles of the highest, driest, and coldest continent. Our expedition cruises in the Antarctic region include journeys to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, South Shetland Islands, and the Antarctic Peninsula.
Endlessly Surprising
- Antarctica holds around 90% of the world's surface fresh water, and around 98% of the continent is covered in ice that's up to 5km (3.1 miles) thick.
- Antarctica also boasts the world's largest desert. The Antarctic Polar Desert covers 5.5 million square miles.
- Antarctica is fringed by ice shelves, extending hundreds of miles offshore. The largest is the Ross Sea ice shelf, covering more than 510,000 square km roughly the size of France!
- Antarctica was the last of Earth's continents to be discovered, in 1820, although there have been many less reliable claims of prior discovery.
- Mount Erebus is the southernmost active volcano in the world, and the second highest mountain in Antarctica. Despite the cold, it has a lava lake in its inner summit crater.
After a friendly welcome at the airport, we’ll transfer
you to one of our partnered premium hotel resorts
nestled in the breathtaking Patagonian nature, where
you can take some time to unwind or go explore the
southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia.
Our evening briefing is your opportunity to ask
questions and meet some of your fellow explorers.
Spend your morning relaxing at the hotel, visiting a
museum, or exploring the shops in Ushuaia, before our
mid-afternoon escort to the ship. Our Expedition Team
and ship staff will welcome you on board and get you
settled in, followed by a safety and orientation briefing
and our Captain’s welcome dinner. We’re on our way to
Antarctica!
Join our Polar Experts as they share their vast
knowledge of Antarctica, from its enchanting wildlife
to its bold history. Participate in our pioneering Citizen
Science program or sit back and take in this fabled
journey while catching glimpses of rarely seen wildlife.
Keep your binoculars handy to identify the many
seabirds that escort our ship as we cross the Antarctic
Convergence into Antarctica’s waters and noticeably
cooler temperatures.
Over time, the volcanic activity of the South Shetland
Islands has created a geology unlike any other. Here,
you can expect a rugged display of mountains, glaciers,
and wildlife returning to their busy daily activity after
the long winter break. Chinstrap and Gentoo penguins
will be a common sight, and it’s not uncommon to share
the water’s edge with Elephant and Fur seals. Whales
are often spotted as well. So, we’ll settle into our
Zodiacs and spend most of our day exploring, perhaps
stopping for a walk along the black sands of Deception
Island. Whether on land or sea, in a Zodiac or kayak,
be prepared for a fully immersive introduction to this
incomparable part of the world.
Welcome to Antarctica in all its awe-inspiring glory. For the next few days, we’ll
explore any number of picturesque bays and famed landing sites, maneuvering
through majestic channels, where glorious icebergs and an array of beguiling
wildlife share the highly active waters. Prepare to be amazed as we spot
numerous species of penguins, seals, and whales, both along the rugged
coastline as well as in the sea. A night of camping under the stars is also an
unforgettable highlight for those who sign up. There are great opportunities to
stop at several active scientific bases and historic landing sites, and we plan to
take full advantage of all the continent offers.
We leave this magical place and make our way north, once again crossing the
legendary Drake Passage. We have one last hurrah as we celebrate the
conclusion of our expedition with a special slideshow and a final meal together.
With huge smiles on weary, content faces, we disembark in the morning, letting
you catch a flight to Buenos Aires or stay in Ushuaia for more sights and
adventure.

Insurance Requirement
Comprehensive travel insurance is required, insurance covering
cancellation-for-any-reason, trip interruption, curtailment, and Force Majeure
events is strongly recommended.
Passenger Responsibility
Passengers remain liable for services utilized until termination. Passengers are
responsible for all costs including mandatory quarantine, repatriation, alternative
port costs, and extended stays.
No Liability for Force Majeure
PLX shall not be liable for failure or delay in performance due to Force Majeure
Events. Such failure does not constitute breach of contract.
PLX Rights During Force Majeure
PLX may, in sole discretion: cancel or curtail the Expedition; hold passengers
aboard vessel in port; or disembark passengers at alternative ports. No refunds,
compensation, or damages are payable for Force Majeure cancellations or
disruptions.

PASSENGER CANCELLATIONS AND AMENDMENTS
All cancellation requests must be in writing. Cancellation fees apply from date
PLX receives notice:
181+ days before departure: $1,250 USD per person
120-180 days before departure: Loss of deposit (20%)
Less than 120 days before departure: 100% of total cost
UK/European passengers may have additional rights under “unavoidable and
extraordinary circumstances.”
No refunds for failure to join, late joining, or early departure from an Expedition.
PLX is not responsible for incidental expenses (visas, vaccinations, insurance
excess, non-refundable flights). Pre-paid adventure options are non-refundable.
Any flights, hotels, or additional services purchased through PLX which are not
included in the base voyage are non-refundable
Name changes or other amendments to your booking will incur the following
administrative fee:

After final payment: $250 USD per person amendment fee
