Overview
Mont Blanc is more than a mountain; it is where modern mountaineering was born. This expedition is designed for adventurers who want to experience the true spirit of the Alps while aiming for one of Europe’s most iconic summits.
Our climbs are led by professional mountain guides and carefully paced to match the team’s abilities while choosing the most stable weather windows of the season. From arrival to summit push, the Pangaea team provides full support to ensure a safe, well-organized, and unforgettable alpine experience.

Meet your Guides
Your journey begins in the iconic Chamonix Valley, the historic heart of alpine mountaineering and the gateway to Mont Blanc.
Participants arriving via Geneva Airport will be met by our transfer partner and transported directly to our hotel in Chamonix. Airport transfers are available between 6:30 AM and 7:30 PM, and we recommend sharing your flight details in advance to ensure a smooth arrival.
If you arrive directly at the hotel, the Pangaea team will be there to welcome you. Check-in typically begins at 3:00 PM, but early arrivals can leave their luggage and explore the charming alpine town of Chamonix, known for its cafés, scenic streets, and world-class gear shops.
Guests who need to rent equipment are encouraged to do so on the first day, as shops usually close around 7:00 PM. Our team will also conduct gear checks to ensure everyone is fully prepared for glacier travel and high-altitude conditions.
In the evening, the group gathers for a welcome dinner and expedition briefing, where you will meet your fellow climbers and mountain guides. During this session, we will review the climbing plan, discuss safety considerations, and prepare for the adventure ahead.
After breakfast, we travel through the Mont Blanc Tunnel to Courmayeur, where we take the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car up to Punta Helbronner, one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Mont Blanc massif and a gateway to the glacier environment.
From here, we reach Torino Hut, our base for the next two nights and an ideal altitude for acclimatisation. After settling in, we head onto the glacier for our first alpine training session.
This day focuses on building the essential skills required for a safe Mont Blanc ascent, including crampon technique, ice axe use, rope travel, and glacier safety. These core mountaineering skills form the foundation for the climbs in the days ahead.
In the evening, we return to the hut for dinner and a short briefing before resting and preparing for the next stage of the expedition.
After breakfast at the Torino Hut, we return to the glacier for a full day of alpine training and acclimatisation. This stage is key to building the confidence and skills needed for a safe Mont Blanc ascent.
Moving in rope teams, you will practice glacier travel, crevasse awareness, and efficient movement on snow and ice, guided by experienced mountain professionals.
Depending on weather and conditions, the team may attempt a training summit such as Petit Flambeau or La Toule, offering our first alpine peak of the expedition while gaining valuable altitude experience.
After spending the day on the glacier and enjoying lunch surrounded by the high Alps, we return to the hut for dinner and rest, preparing for the bigger challenges ahead.
After breakfast at Torino Hut, we cross the Glacier du Géant toward the Aiguilles Marbrées, a beautiful granite ridge between Dent du Géant and the Grandes Jorasses.
This climb combines glacier travel, ridge movement, and light scrambling, offering a perfect progression before the Mont Blanc summit phase.
Depending on conditions, we may complete a short ridge traverse and descent by abseil, or simply return via the ascent route.
After returning to the hut for lunch, we descend by cable car to Courmayeur and drive back to Chamonix, where we spend the night in the valley resting and preparing for the next stage of the expedition.
Today we begin the Mont Blanc ascent. Around midday, we travel from Les Houches via the Bellevue cable car and the Mont Blanc mountain train to Nid d’Aigle, the traditional starting point for the climb.
From here, we hike steadily for around three hours toward Tête Rousse Hut, gaining altitude gradually while enjoying views of the surrounding glaciers and peaks.
After arriving at the hut, the focus shifts to rest, preparation, and summit planning. Our guides review weather conditions and discuss the strategy for the upcoming climb.
In the evening, the team gathers for a detailed summit briefing, where we prepare for the next stage of the expedition and the challenge of climbing Mont Blanc.
Summit day begins before dawn at Tête Rousse Hut, with an early departure to cross the Grand Couloir in the safest morning conditions. We then continue the climb toward Goûter Hut, where we take a short rest before beginning the final ascent.
From here the route leads over the Dôme du Goûter, gradually gaining altitude toward the upper mountain. After passing the Vallot shelter, the terrain steepens as we make our way up the final slopes toward the summit ridge.
The last section follows a narrow ridge leading to the broad summit of Mont Blanc (4,810 m), the highest peak in Western Europe. At the top, we take time to celebrate, capture the moment, and enjoy the incredible views across the Alps.
After the summit, we descend carefully back to Goûter Hut for dinner and well-earned rest.
If the summit was reached the previous day, we begin an early descent from the Goûter Route back toward the Chamonix Valley. Crossing the Grand Couloir in the early morning ensures safer conditions before the sun warms the slope.
We continue down past Tête Rousse toward Nid d’Aigle, where we take the mountain train back to the valley, usually arriving in Chamonix around midday.
The afternoon is free to relax, return rented gear, and enjoy time in the alpine town. In the evening, the team gathers for a celebration dinner, marking the successful completion of the Mont Blanc expedition.
If the summit attempt takes place on this day due to weather conditions, the schedule adjusts accordingly before returning to Chamonix later in the day.
Our Mont Blanc journey comes to an end this morning in Chamonix. After breakfast, guests prepare for departure and transfers to Geneva Airport.
Airport transfers are arranged according to the flight details provided in advance to ensure a smooth return journey.
This final morning offers a moment to relax, reflect on the achievement, and say farewell before beginning the journey home.
